Installation

Quick HowTo

FuLo screen There is one screen row per fuel fill up. There is no data entry screen, just start writing numbers with graffiti. For each fill up, enter the odometer reading, fuel quantity, and optionally some notes.

When you open FuelLog, you will find the focus on the odometer field of a new row. The odometer reading must be in Kilometers. The default odometer reading is taken from the previous fillup, with 3 digits selected so you can easily overwrite them with 3 new digits. Then tap on the 'Fuel' field for this row, and enter the fuel quantity. Enter 2 decimal places if you want to (i.e. 22.34) for greater precision.

The quantity can be in U.S. Gallons or Litres. The default 'G/L' units is taken from the previous fillup, but you can tap on the selector to change this for the row. The default date is 'today', but you can change it if you want. You can tap the Note button if you want to add a note. No need to do more: now the data has been stored. Optionally, if you want to see the 'K/L' or 'MPG' consumption for the new row, just tap on the Calc button. (Get the same effect by tapping on any field other than the one you were writing in).

If you partially fill the tank, the calculated consumption numbers will be less accurate but will average out to a correct value.

If you forget to record a fill up then the next time you record a fill up the calculated consumption number will be wrong. Leave a blank row with fuel quantity of '0' in place of the missing fill up, so this does not happen.

If you still have FuelLog open since the last fillup (in other words, you have not used any other PDA program in the meantime, you will be wondering how to open up a new row. Just tap on the scroll-down button or key.

graffiti gestures Remember the Graffiti cursor gestures. Instead of tapping on a field to go to it, you can use the cursor gestures to move through the fields, as if you were using 'tab' on a PC keyboard.
